In the corrupt diamond market of New York City, gemstone dealer and gambling addict Howard Ratner owes money to nearly everyone. A serial adulterer, habitual gambler, and all-around con artist, Howard believes he can get out of the tight spot when he gets his hands on a block of rare Ethiopian black opal--the means to clear his ever-rising debts. However, he is not the only one after the precious stone; star Boston Celtics player Kevin Garnett, too, fancies the uncut gem. With his ambitious master plan going sideways, can Ratner juggle family and work and face off against a pair of thuggish collectors before things go south?
