Demon.Slayer.Kimetsu.no.Yaiba.Infinity.Castle.2025.2160p.AI.Remaster.BluRay.DV.HDR10Plus.TrueHD.Atmos.HEVC-NocturneMain DEMON SLAYER: KIMETSU NO YAIBA - INFINITY CASTLE BLU-RAY -> AI 4K | HDR10+ | DOLBY VISION P8.1 | TRUEHD ATMOS 鬼滅の刃 無限城 ================================================================================ QUICK SPECS ================================================================================ SOURCE : Blu-ray VIDEO : 3840x2160 HEVC Main10 10-bit / ~26.5 Mb/s 23.976 FPS AI : Topaz Iris Detail recovery / 4K upscale HDR : Hyperion HDR10 HDR10+ Profile B Dolby Vision P8.1 / CM v4.0 COLOUR : Limited BT.2020 / PQ ANALYSIS : ~3,200 scenes 222,877 frames 222,877 DV RPUs AUDIO : English TrueHD 7.1 + Atmos 11 dynamic objects Japanese TrueHD 5.1 SUBS : 20 + fonts SIZE : ~37.3 GiB RUNTIME : ~2 h 34 min ORIGINAL 23.976 FPS CADENCE PRESERVED ================================================================================ WHY I MADE IT ================================================================================ I wanted to try and recreate some of what I remembered from seeing Infinity Castle in IMAX. Thumpy audio. Crisp detail. Massive scale. The castle itself was the thing that stuck with me most. Characters looked tiny inside it. Rooms disappeared into black. Then an attack would happen and suddenly the entire screen was fire, water, lightning and colour. When I got the Blu-ray I thought: "How close can I get at home?" That question got expensive in time. ================================================================================ IRIS -> 4K ================================================================================ Topaz Iris handled the AI enhancement and upscale. The goal wasn't fake sharpness. Anime is awkward material because one frame can contain clean line art, deliberately soft faces, smooth gradients and insanely detailed backgrounds at the same time. Push enhancement too hard and it starts inventing things that were never drawn. So the rule was simple: MORE DETAIL. SAME ARTWORK. ================================================================================ HYPERION -> HDR ================================================================================ Hyperion handled the HDR processing. I didn't want HDR that just made everything brighter. Infinity Castle needs black. That darkness is where a lot of the scale comes from. Tiny lights disappear into impossible architecture. Then something burns. A blade catches light. Colour suddenly has something to fight against. Keep the castle dark enough that it feels endless. Then let the things that are supposed to burn, burn. ================================================================================ THE HDR RABBIT HOLE ================================================================================ This stopped being a simple upscale fairly quickly. HDR10+ and Dolby Vision were analysed separately. HDR10+ got its own Profile B metadata. Dolby Vision got its own CM v4.0 analysis and Profile 8.1 RPU stream. Both then had to remain aligned to the same final HEVC picture. HDR SCENES : ~3,200 VIDEO FRAMES : 222,877 HDR10+ REPRESENTED : 222,877 DOLBY VISION RPUs : 222,877 DV PROFILE : 8.1 DV SIGNAL : BL + RPU HDR10+ : Profile B BASE : Limited BT.2020 / PQ CADENCE : 24000/1001 At some point I was comparing metadata counts at stupid o'clock in the morning. Entirely reasonable hobby. ================================================================================ ROADBLOCKS ================================================================================ - Full -> Limited needed real pixel conversion. Changing a flag isn't conversion. - First Dolby Vision attempt: correct RPU count, basically one giant scene. Scrapped. - HDR10+ and Dolby Vision had to stay aligned across all 222,877 frames. - One metadata tool rewrote HEVC SPS/VUI timing and produced a bogus ~103 FPS readout. Branch binned. - HDR10 + HDR10+ + Dolby Vision P8.1 all had to coexist on the same final HEVC base. - Then verify everything again. Most of the interesting bits started with: "Why the hell did it do that?" ================================================================================ WHY NOT 60 FPS? ================================================================================ My previous AI remaster was Arcane. That one was: ARCANE : Netflix 1080p -> AI 4K / 60 FPS INFINITY CASTLE : Blu-ray -> AI 4K / 23.976 FPS So I'm not against interpolation. It just wasn't the right choice here. The held drawings, sudden bursts of movement and timing around impacts felt better left alone. Same toolbox. Different material. ================================================================================ THEN I TOUCHED THE AUDIO ================================================================================ This added another four days. The finished English soundtrack was separated in: Steinberg SpectraLayers That gave me working material for: DIALOGUE MUSIC EFFECTS The point was to be able to treat different parts of the soundtrack differently instead of blindly throwing the whole finished mix around the room. Dialogue stays tied to the screen. Music gets space. Effects get movement. The final result is a custom lossless TrueHD Atmos track with: FORMAT : Dolby TrueHD + Atmos CHANNELS : 7.1 presentation SAMPLE RATE : 48 kHz BITRATE : ~3,581 kb/s DYNAMIC OBJECTS : 11 The original Japanese TrueHD 5.1 track is included untouched. ================================================================================ ABOUT THE ATMOS MIX ================================================================================ This is built from separated finished audio. It isn't made from the studio's original production stems. That matters. Spectral separation gives you useful material to work with, but it isn't magic. There are a few places where, with unlimited time, I'd still tweak the balance between speech and music scene by scene. Speech up slightly here. Music back up there. Repeat across a two-and-a-half-hour film. I know what another pass would look like. I also already spent about four days on it. There is a point where "one more adjustment" becomes "see you next month." ================================================================================ FINAL VIDEO ================================================================================ VIDEO : HEVC Main10 RESOLUTION : 3840x2160 FRAME RATE : 23.976 / 24000/1001 BIT DEPTH : 10-bit CHROMA : 4:2:0 BITRATE : ~26.5 Mb/s RANGE : Limited PRIMARIES : BT.2020 TRANSFER : PQ / ST2084 MATRIX : BT.2020 non-constant HDR10 : Yes HDR10+ : Profile B DOLBY VISION : Profile 8.1 dvhe.08.06 BL + RPU MASTERING : BT.2020 0.0001 - 1000 nits MAXCLL : 10000 MAXFALL : 2081 ================================================================================ THE RESULT ================================================================================ This is a fan-made Blu-ray remaster. Not an official UHD. Not a studio master. Just me trying to get closer to what I remembered from IMAX and following every technical rabbit hole that got in the way. Iris for detail. Hyperion for HDR. HDR10+ + Dolby Vision. Custom TrueHD Atmos. It got slightly out of hand. Worth it. ================================================================================ 鬼滅の刃 無限城 ================================================================================ Independent fan-made Blu-ray remaster. Not an official UHD or studio master. A more detailed technical write-up is included in: BEHIND THE SCENES.txt
