Rollback Rx is a convenient and easy-to-use program for creating OS backup images. If a crash or other issue occurs, you can retrieve the backup and immediately restore your system. In addition to files, it can restore all your system settings, all registry settings at the time of the backup, and your desktop will be preserved, complete with all your shortcuts and their locations, user configuration, and more. This powerful program is for professionals who want to always be on the safe side in case of problems. After installation, the program writes its preloader to the boot area, allowing you to restore the OS from the pre-boot console even when it's unable to recover on its own. Upon first launch, it also creates a system snapshot, which, like all subsequent snapshots, is compact in size. In total, up to 60,000 snapshots can be taken.
As far as I understand, when creating snapshots, the program writes information about files and system parameters into its own file allocation table, independent of the main MBR (or creates some kind of protected area on the disk for this purpose).
Snapshots are created very quickly, in 2-3 seconds, and they're also created when installing any application (there's a built-in template for any setup.zip file in the settings). These snapshots can then be mounted as virtual drives, which is very convenient for restoring individual files.
Rolling back to the "original system" selected from the list while preserving the recovered data is a welcome addition to any computer. Using RollBack Rx, we can not only save time and money but also completely eliminate computer stress. Now you can surf the web without worrying about the dangers of malware, or while testing programs.
There's a lively discussion about the program and its use on our forum. I'll just add that this version is fully localized and fully functional (thanks to gavana for his localization). Unfortunately, a newer version isn't yet available for "repair," so we're using this one for now. Also, before uninstalling the program, update your baseline snapshot—this will prevent you from losing files and programs created after installing Rollback Rx. In short, download and use it to protect your OS; to roll back to a working state, simply reboot.
