One of the great electronic bands, The Art of Noise was formed by engineer/producer Gary Langan and programmer J. J. Jeczalik, along with keyboardist/arranger Anne Dudley, producer Trevor Horn, and music journalist Paul Morley.
The group’s inception was heavily inspired by the Fairlight CMI, a brand new instrument that could play samples using a piano-like keyboard. In 1985, not long after releasing their mega-hit / balearic classic “Moments in Love,” The Art of Noise split up – with Morley and Horn leaving the group due to artistic differences.
In Visible Silence was the trio’s first album with the adjusted lineup and proved they didn’t need Horn’s production and Morley’s direction. Filled with classics like “Opus 4,” “Legs,” “Eye Of A Needle,” and “Camilla,” the album is arguably Art of Noise’s most complete play-through with hardly a miss. (insheepsclothinghifi.com)
