Synopsis:
In 1970s Poland, Agnieszka, a fiery and determined young filmmaker, fighting against institutional censorship, decides to base her university diploma film on Mateusz Birkut, a legendary bricklayer who was once celebrated as a hyper-productive Stakhanovite hero of Socialist Realism in the 1950s. Tracking down old newsreels and interviewing his former colleagues, friends, and estranged wife, Agnieszka peels back the layers of state-sanctioned propaganda. She uncovers a tragic narrative of political manipulation, bureaucratic betrayal, and Birkut's eventual disillusionment and mysterious disappearance from public life after standing up for his persecuted comrades.

Framed in its native, historical pillarboxed 4:3 theatrical aspect ratio at a precise resolution of 1456x1072 at a constant 24.000 FPS. The encoding parameters utilized custom deblock/aq/psy structures to flawlessly preserve the original, heavy film grain characteristic of Andrzej Wajda's cinematic cinematography while mitigating compression noise.
• Audio: Sourced from the uncompressed Polish master elements and downmixed into a native 6-channel (5.1 Surround) audio layout, matrix-remapped and encoded into advanced libopus at a highly stable bitrate for an immersive acoustic landscape.
• Subtitles: Fully integrated with high-fidelity, original image-based PGS subtitle streams including English (Flagged as Default) and Polish.
• Chapters: The complete 18-chapter narrative structural menu from the original Criterion/Retail presentation has been fully mapped and preserved.
