On her way, she encounters a mysterious being with an ominous message, an unlikely ally, and the destruction the shades have wreaked on the mortal realm. Amidst all of this, she is haunted by strange tales of Fareeza the Whisperer—a Darkling of ages long past—whom she can’t help but identify with, for better or worse.
