Mya King is a successful investment banker who lives in a large city and spends most of her time working long hours and binge-watching Netflix. While she is at her usual lunch spot with co-worker and friend Jasmine, she receives a phone call from back home: her widowed grandmother pleading with her to come home for Thanksgiving. Though Mya has been dodging her family's calls for the past few weeks, she answers the call and promises her grandmother that she'll finally return to her hometown for the holiday.
