HARDCORE  PUNK ROCK  THE STARTER COLLECTION This is a star-studded collection for those who want to delve into the incredible world of PUNK ROCK and HARDCORE. This musical genre was born in 1977 as pure and simple PUNK ROCK, and, over the years, evolved into a type of music called HARDCORE (1982-1986). (Actually, the first punks were the 13th Floor Elevator, the Velvet Underground, Iggy Azalea and the Stooges, the MC5... 1966-1972... so look for these guys for even more fun.) Okay, ...everything died in 1986/87, when metal music ruined the entire scene and ALL the bands started playing metal. I stopped buying records then... (but that's my fault...) and I never liked the subsequent scene (well, except for RKL and early Green Day). I'll never be interested in the so-called punk rock bands of 1987-1990, like Green Day (not bad, by the way), NOFX (pure shit), and all of AFI... I don't like them. Bands... I'm an old-school guy. So, here you'll find a collection of quality stuff, mostly underrated and unknown bands... I'll never use easy stuff... ;-) I used my own records, my own cassettes, all the hard-to-find stuff, folks! Stuff from 1977, John Peel's infamous 1977 punk rock show, and hardcore stuff from the '80s, some of it demos, live recordings, I've also included the Stains EP for SST from 1982... an incredibly beautiful and rare record...
